Our lovely Alaska vacation comes to an end, back to reality

We had a lovely vacation, an awesome time.  It is hard to admit, but it sure is nice to get out of Miami for a while, a break from the heat  and other things.  And we certainly needed the break, we as a family had not taken a two week vacation in over 5 years....

It is nice to be back, now that we are rested and full of energy again!

Thanks to all of you who made it possible for us to get this break....  Megan, Ellen, Andi, Marilyn and Emily, and Ann.  Thank you.

Square of the Month Class continues

Hi Square knitters - and all those interested in becoming square people!

We are getting ready for out next afghan square. This time we are going to be doing a rib and eyelet lace pattern. I would call this an introduction to basic lace.

I’ll also be bringing a finished blanket so you can get an idea of how the squares fit together. We can pick out which squares we want to make, or decide on others. My friend Barbara (pictured on this blog modeling her fabulous entrelac purse!) loaned me her finished blanket, so please no droooling on the merchandise!

We will be meeting from 11:30 - 1:30. Hope to see you there!

Worldwide Knit In Public (wwkip) days coming up!

In order to do our part in helping everyone celebrate the worldwide knit in public days coming up these next two weekends (6/13 & 6/14 and then 6/20 & 6/21) we will be offering 10% off on all yarns from the 13th through the 21st.  Happy Knitting!

Classes Saturday June 13

Andi will be teaching a follow up class to the Lacy Hug-Me-Tight Shawl, Saturday June 13th at 11:30 am.  Newcomers are welcome!  This is an easy lace project that provides a beautiful finished project!

We had a very large turnout for our different Entrelac classes  with Andi in the past month, so we have decided to have yet another one this coming Saturday June 13, at 2:30.  Most students were learning the entrelac technique by making an adorable headband from a pattern that can be found on Knitty.com.  But some were going to make a blanket, a shawl.  If you want to learn entrelac, need a refresher course or just want some moral support with the entrelac project you are currently working on, then this class is for you.

If you would like to sign up for either one of these classes, give us a call or send us an email.

Next Saturday Andi will be teaching another "Square of the Month" class as well as a Blocking and Finishing class.  Stay tuned for details.

Touring Washington State Wine Country

I have to admit, I haven't gotten too much knitting done.....

Seattle's Pikes Place Marketplace

We set out on a mission to visit several of Seattle's yarn shops, unfortunately we were a little disappointed in the couple that we saw.....  We have quite a few more to visit though.  We still had a very fun day, and spent a good part of it visiting the well known Pikes Place Marketplace, downtown Seattle.  So not like any marketplace in Miami.  My personal favorite, the flowers and the fruits.  Wow....

And we are on our way!

Finally our family summer vacation has started.  The last day of school has come and gone, the trip knitting projects have been selected and we are packed and ready to go!  After much planning and organizing and feeling like not everything got done, we are off to the West Coast for a lovely two week vacation.  Yay....  We leave you all in the good hands of Megan, Andi, Marilyn and the newest member of our team, Ellen.
In addition to visiting Seattle, and Eastern Washington State, cruising in Alaska, we plan to visit lots of yarn shops (and Starbucks....) along the way.
Our first sighting of Mount Rainier from the airplane window made us feel like we are very far away from home, our vacation has begun.
